Lomond silver

This week we moved on from our recent Grayling pursuits to another winter favourite and to much more familiar territory. We were once again absorbed in the vastness of Loch Lomond and in search of some silver. At this time of year fishing the feeder on Lomond is probably one of my favourite methods and the Roach are in superb condition.

Yesterday we spent the day in the usual stunning surroundings and after 8 hours, 2kg of crumb, 2 pints of maggots, 1 pint of casters, 1 pint of hemp, a tin of corn and over 160 casts each, we managed to build a respectable bag of plump Roach. Well, at least one of us did.
Fishing, in typical feeder style, began slowly, but with perseverance and hard work we managed to get the fish in a frenzy, after which they came thick and fast; mainly Roach but with the odd Dace, Perch, Ruffe and Hybrid for variety.

We even managed a modest Pike to the dead-bait rods we had fishing in the background; Not a big fish but my first of the winter season.
